Never open. Once it said OPEN and I walked in. Only to be told that 'we're closed'... boo! I hope it will make it long term! The back garden is amazing. Lovely hide-away, hidden gem! No complaints about the food - for around £25 per head including wine, it's not bad value - if you stick to the tapas deal. However the house white was almost undrinkably bad and the red not much better. Looking at it second time around, I think they need to improve their rather vague and laidback approach to service and delivery. Only two parties in the house and we were just left to it really - no offer of bread/olives with our drinks before we ordered, and I had to go and find the (very nice ) waiter at least twice - he was round the corner chatting with colleagues. The tapas were served in plastic trays, which I suppose is OK but hardly creates ambience. Neither does the glaringly bright spotlights that they turned on halfway through the meal. While I quite like Caruso singing Puccini, it dominated the place to an annoying level. So all quite pleasant, but let down by lack of attention to detail in creating an atmospheric and comfortable eating experience. And they really must get their lighting sorted out as a first step.grahamfhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17455502639845806444noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-174388664701790643.post-49328931994243909152012-05-03T17:27:49.973+01:002012-05-03T17:27:49.973+01:00Glad you feel the same way. It's just so uninspiring every time I walk past that I haven't felt compelled to return.

Haven't tried Cafe Rio yet (or the Bottle Shop). Must admit the black and chrome decor + advert on the door for pre-made children's desserts hasn't really drawn me in. Was hoping for something a little more enticing in such a handy location to where I live.gourmetgorrohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10151639585645335132noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-174388664701790643.post-14110818993758350352012-05-03T12:58:37.277+01:002012-05-03T12:58:37.277+01:00Wholly agree re: branding - it is confusing and th...Wholly agree re: branding - it is confusing and they need to rethink their business plan. We had the tapas deal - £30 for £15, which broadly matched your review. I thought mains were over-priced and my chicken was somewhat uninspiring - OK but not beyond that. Don't think i'd go again.
BTW - have you been to the new Cafe Rio yet, by the Bottle Shop? Would be intrigued to read your review if yes.grahamfhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17455502639845806444noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-174388664701790643.post-78554777491469828692011-07-03T14:06:24.367+01:002011-07-03T14:06:24.367+01:00Sadly I often find that those restaurants running ...Sadly I often find that those restaurants running Groupon or other deals are not that great.
